“We have to work as a team because we are all under one government” Aramanzani Tinkasimire

On 28th December 2013, the Chairman LCIII of West Division in Fort Portal Municipality, Kabarole District Hon Aramanzani Tinkasimire showed the local citizens how political and technical leaders have to work as a team so as to realize better service delivery. This was during the ‘Orukurato Program’ a 2 hour weekly program that discusses issues of accountability every Saturday (08:00 – 10:00pm) that is sponsored by ToroDev on HITS FM. “As leaders under one government, we have to work together as a team despite our political differences so as to deliver better services to our local people”.

During the program, the Hon Councilor went ahead to explain to the local citizens the achievements made under his office in the year 2013. “Kagote Health Center has been promoted from Health Center II to Health Center III, enough staff recruited in the different departments and enough medicine supplied directly from the National Medical Stores. Shallow wells have also been constructed in Bulyanyenje, Kyamukerege, Nyabusozi and Rwengoma Center II villages. Roads worked on include Mpanga bridge – Kagote Seed Road and Nyabukara – Bulyanyenje Road. We have also lobbied desks from the district to Kahungabunyonyi Primary School”.

Hon Aramanzani also explained to the local citizens the challenges that his office faced in delivering better services to the local citizens. “In the year 2013, there has been poor incomes right away from the local people to the central government which affected our performance. There was also a challenge of garbage around Kabundaire market and other parts of West Division that hindered sanitation”.   

Meanwhile, Hon Aramanzani also discussed the plan for 2014. “In 2014, we plan to work on Kahungabunyonyi – Mugunu Road, give out mosquito nets to fight the wide spread malaria amongst pregnant mothers, construct shallow wells in areas like Kyamukerege, Kitembe, Kyabukonkoni and Muhoti villages and also work as team with leaders to realize developments”.

Local citizens also participated in the live radio discussion through call ins to raise their issues and concerns. “Kitere Road is so poor”, said Oliver from Kitere village, “Polythene paper bags should be burnt to realize proper sanitation”, said Kwizera from Kamwenge District, Mugoma Road is so poor and full of pot holes”, said Hamza from Mukibimba, “Mukacungiro village has no water”, said Fred from Kitere village.
